The final Cozy Game Restoration demo is live: seven cartridges, NES-style booklet menus, the UV torch glow trail and the 99% autocomplete fix.

What is in the final demo?

Seven cartridges, a limited number of in-game days, and the interface the launch build will use. The developer pushed it live on 1 October 2026 for Windows and macOS, with Steam Deck supported and Linux running through Proton.

The previous Next Fest demo was sunset in June so the developer could work on a stable build. This one is the same idea with the systems he had been rebuilding: tutorial, quests, shelf bonuses and parcel selection.

What changed in this build?

Five things a returning demo player will notice:

  1. Booklet menus. The whole interface moved into NES-style booklets, including the how-to-play pages.
  2. A UV torch trail. The torch now leaves a glowing trail on dirt, so you can sweep a cartridge, switch tools and come back to the patches you missed instead of guessing.
  3. Autocomplete. A subtle pass that clears the last specks once cleaning is nearly done — see cleaning tools for how it interacts with the layer stats.
  4. Visible shelf unlocks. You can see what a shelf slot will give you before committing to it.
  5. Movement and rotation tweaks, with controller sensitivity still being tuned.

Does the demo have languages?

The final demo carried a first pass of the Tier 1 translations, with Chinese variants still being finished at launch time. The store page now lists 18 languages with English voice-over.

Should you play it before launch?

Yes, if you have not. The demo teaches the tutorial and the collection-room half without touching your launch save, and the save is reset on purpose — see demo versus full game.

It is also the best available preview of how a cartridge reads under the tools, which is what the damage types page is about. The full patch list lives on the patch notes timeline.
